Four Medical Aesthetic Treatments for Acne

Dealing with skin issues like acne is not only irritating but can also affect your self-confidence, mental health, and overall quality of life. A lot of acne sufferers switch to facial cleansers or acne treatment products and spend a huge amount of time updating their skincare routines to try to get rid of acne, with very little success. But, if you have a worse case of acne, you may need more than just a facial cleanser. Why not consider skin treatments available at a medical aesthetic clinic? You can find many treatment options at https://www.epilationlaserplus.com, but the following are some of the most common:

Medical-Grade Facials

When it comes to facials, most people think of a relaxing day at a spa. While this can be an effective way to treat mild acne, the most effective form of acne treatment is getting a medical-grade facial. This procedure is carried out by a medical aesthetician and uses high-quality products that may not be available to typical day spas. Every facial is customised to the specific needs of your skin and can also include the use of dermaplaning, LED lighting therapy, or microcurrent to kill acne bacteria on your skin.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are exfoliating treatments that can treat some conditions, from scars to ageing skin and acne. They are available in various strengths, depending on the seriousness of the problem that a medical aesthetician will determine. They use an acidic solution applied to your skin to target the top and middle layer of the skin to exfoliate the top layer and kill off bacteria that cause acne.

Blue Light Therapy

Blue light kills the acne-causing bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes or P acnes responsible for the inflammation associated with acne. The bacteria is sensitive to blue light which eliminates bacteria found the oil glands in your skin. The presence of infrared light in the device causes the oil glands to shrink in size, leading to less oil in the skin and fewer bacteria. Smaller target areas need less time, but with serious cases of acne, it may take several treatments at longer intervals.

Microdermabrasion

This procedure works best for some kinds of depressed acne scars that cause skin pits. It is not an ideal treatment for inflammatory acne as it can only affect the surface of the skin and cannot work beneath the surface where bacteria build up to exacerbate breakouts. Your specialist will determine whether or not this treatment is for you.
