Being Employed As an Work-related Health Nurse

Work-related Health Nurses are registered general nurses who observe and assess worker’s health statuses regarding job tasks and hazards. Using specialised experience and education, these nurses recognise and stop workplace hazardous exposures and treat workers’ injuries/illnesses.

These Nurses bring their nursing expertise to any or all industries including meat packing, manufacturing, construction and health.

They’ve special understanding of workplace hazards and understand industrial hygiene concepts of engineering controls, administrative controls, and private protective gear. OHN’s also provide understanding of toxicology and epidemiology as associated with the worker and also the workplace.

Work-related Health Nurse Responsibilities:

Observation and assessment of both worker and also the work atmosphere

Interpretation and look at the worker’s medical and work-related history, subjective complaints, and physical examination, screening tests, industrial hygiene and private exposure monitoring values

Evaluation from the workplace atmosphere for potential hazards or exposures

Control over work-related and non-work-related illness and injuries

Registration by having an Bord Altranais.

An existing Work-related Health qualification that could be:

Certificates in complete safety Health & Welfare at the office.

A Qualification in complete safety Health & Welfare at the office.

A Qualification in Health and Hygiene.

A Diploma in Work-related Health Nursing.

BSc in Work-related Safety & Health Management.

BSc in Work-related Safety & Health.

Masters in Applied Science (Safety Health & Welfare at the office).

MSc in Health and Hygiene.

The Work-related Health Nurses Association of eire (OHNAI) is really a national body for Nurses who work either as individual practitioners or team people inside a workplace setting. It’s primary role is developing educational pathways of these Nurses in Ireland through conferences, conferences, newsletters along with other correspondences.
